KL Rahul, who joined the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in 2022, is reportedly on the verge of being released before the IPL 2025 mega auction. Following the IPL Governing Council's announcement of retention rules, franchises are evaluating their strategies regarding player retention, fresh acquisitions, and Right-To-Match options. Uncertainty has surrounded Rahul’s position at LSG, particularly after his struggles in the previous season and his exclusion from the Indian T20I squad.

Recent analyses by LSG mentor Zaheer Khan and coach Justin Langer revealed troubling patterns in Rahul's performance.
