Kohli Still Has Time To Become The Fastest Cricketer In History

Though Virat Kohli fell short of expectations in the Chennai Test, the upcoming second Test against Bangladesh in Kanpur presents him with another opportunity to make history. Despite scoring only 23 runs in the series opener, Kohli continues to be a record-breaking force in the cricketing world.

In the second innings of the Chennai Test, Kohli added 17 runs, bringing his total to over 12,000 international runs on home soil. This remarkable achievement makes him only the second Indian, after Sachin Tendulkar, to reach this milestone, which he accomplished in just 219 matches for India.

As Kohli gears up for the second Test in Kanpur, he is just 35 runs away from a monumental record. By scoring these runs, Kohli will become the fastest cricketer in history to reach 27,000 international runs in fewer than 600 innings—a feat that would set a new benchmark in the 147-year history of Test cricket. Currently, only Sachin Tendulkar (623 innings), Kumar Sangakkara, and Ricky Ponting have crossed the 27,000-run mark.

In addition to this, Kohli stands on the brink of surpassing Tendulkar's record of 115 Test catches, needing just three more to claim the record for himself. Moreover, with only seven more boundaries, Kohli will hit the milestone of 1,000 fours in Test cricket during the IND vs BAN second Test in Kanpur.

As the highly anticipated match approaches, all eyes will be on Virat Kohli as he chases these significant milestones and continues his journey as one of cricket's greatest players.
