Kuldeep Yadav, the left-arm chinaman, made an impressive comeback from his injury against the Lucknow Super Giants. He tore through the LSG batting order, restricting them to 167/7 with figures of 3/20. DC eventually chased down the target in 18.1 overs, securing their much-needed second win of the season.
Kuldeep was awarded the Player of the Match award for his outstanding performance. During the post-match presentation ceremony, the spinner made a humorous comment when questioned about his DRS dynamics with DC captain Rishabh Pant.
In an earlier match against Rajasthan Royals, Kuldeep had approached Pant and made a DRS gesture against Jos Buttler. The spinner's action paid off, as DC dismissed Buttler early in the game. Kuldeep joked that he has one DRS call per match reserved for himself when asked how they decide on reviews.
“If it’s a 50-50 call, I’ll usually go for it myself. But if the odds seem more like 60-40, I’ll refer to Rishabh’s judgment. When we have two reviews available, I will make sure to reserve one for myself in case I need it later.”
The spinner continues to be a crucial player for the Delhi Capitals team, and his absence has had a negative impact on the team's recent losses to Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians. In the match against KKR, Delhi suffered a crushing defeat, conceding 272/7 runs - the second-highest total in IPL history.
The Capitals were greatly relieved by their victory over the Lucknow Super Giants, which was a six-wicket win that lifted DC from last place in the standings. This win brought their record to two wins in six matches this season. Meanwhile, Lucknow slipped to fourth place but remains tied on points with KKR, Chennai Super Kings, and Sunrisers Hyderabad.
On April 17, Rishabh Pant and his team will face Gujarat Titans.
