Kohli and Rohit have one more chance to present India with an ICC Trophy

Finding two cricket players as distinct from one another but bound by the same destiny as Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma is difficult.

It's more predicated on understanding that they shouldn't intrude on one another's personal space and reciprocal respect.

Since the start of their careers, Kohli has shown his adoration for Rohit in public.

"I was filled with curiosity about a player. People kept on saying – 'This is one player who is rising rapidly'. I used to wonder that even though I was a young player, no one talks about me, then who is this player? But when he stepped out to bat, I was all quiet. It was amazing to watch him play. I haven't seen a player time the ball better than him," Kohli had said in 'Breakfast With Champions'.

Kohli is the more versatile hitter of the two, having adjusted to the shifting nature of the game with greater ease.

After Sachin Tendulkar's glory days, there was a rare display of consistency after his scoring exploits across the cricket world.

Throughout his career, Rohit was a reluctant guest in the elite hallways of Test cricket, despite building his structures in white-ball formats.

In Tests towards the end of his career, Rohit was able to loosen some of his restrictions after being promoted to the opening position.

To support India's World Cup campaign, Kohli and Rohit will have to rely on their extensive T20 cricket experience for the time being.

Rohit will undoubtedly start, and if his demeanour throughout the World Cup and the recently finished Indian Premier League is any indication, the captain will keep up his aggressive, selfless style.

It has frequently been difficult for Kohli to score off-spin, particularly when facing left-arm bowlers. In T20s, his career strikeout percentage against slow bowlers is in the mid-120s.

It has hindered his middle-inning advancement on multiple occasions, but in this year's IPL, he appeared to have discovered a workaround.

He used the slog-sweep to his advantage against spinners, and it had a positive impact on his strike rate as he amassed 260 runs off of 188 balls and hit 15 sixes off of them.

Compared to his overall IPL strike rate of 124, his strike rate against spin reached 139, a significant improvement.

"It was me mentally putting myself in that situation. I did not practice that at all," he explained.

"I know I can hit it because I have played that shot a lot in the past. So, I just felt like I needed to take a bit more risk," Kohli said of his new approach against spin.

He might find a use for this at the T20 World Cup when it is anticipated that pitches will get progressively slower and more spinner-friendly.

Outside of cricket, it would be fascinating to watch the two veterans make one last run at an ICC trophy, both individually and as a team.
