Mayank Yadav's injury blamed on KL Rahul and Justin Langer

Brett Lee has expressed serious concern over Mayank Yadav's recurring injury and blamed the LSG team management (KL Rahul and Justin Langer) for the fast bowler's fitness problems. Lee emphasised the risks of pushing the body to its limits, especially for a pace bowler like Yadav, who regularly tops 150km/h.

In Yadav's comeback match, he had to leave the field before the end of his fourth over, a reflection of the problem that has sidelined him for over three weeks. Giants coach Justin Langer noted that Yadav was still experiencing discomfort in the same area, suggesting ongoing fitness issues. Despite returning against MI, Yadav was again unable to bowl his full quota, raising further questions about his fitness and the management's injury prevention strategies.

Brett Lee stated:

“A side strain typically takes at least four to six weeks to heal properly. The severity of Yadav’s strain is unclear. For a fast bowler who consistently bowls at 150 km/h, rushing back from injury too soon reflects poorly on the leadership and medical staff of the Lucknow Super Giants. Getting injured in his first game back from a side strain indicates inadequate recovery time and injury management.”

Mayank Yadav's setback in his first match back from injury has raised concerns about more than just his availability for the rest of the IPL season. Brett Lee sympathised with the young pacer and stressed the need for proper guidance and injury prevention to avoid such setbacks in the future.

Mayank, who took figures of 1 for 31 from 3.1 overs on Tuesday, had made a blistering start to the 2024 IPL, taking six wickets in his first three matches before being dropped.
