MI beat SRH thanks to Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma

Suryakumar Yadav's masterful unbeaten century led Mumbai Indians to a seven-wicket win over Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League on Monday.

Yadav's unbeaten 51-ball 102 included six sixes and 12 boundaries at the Wankhede. He helped Mumbai reach 174-3 with 16 balls to spare in reply to Hyderabad's 173-8.

Mumbai ended a four-match losing streak.

Earlier, skipper Hardik Pandya (3-31) and leg-spinner Piyush Chawla (3-33) had restricted Hyderabad to a total that was only made competitive by skipper Pat Cummins' late 17-ball 35 not out.

Mumbai moved from the bottom to the second to the bottom of the table. Fourth-placed Hyderabad need at least two wins from their final three home matches to secure a play-off spot.

Mumbai's top-order struggles continued as they slipped to 31-3 at home after Rohit Sharma was bowled by Cummins on 4.

Yadav survived an early swing from Bhuvneshwar Kumar and targeted the short square boundaries. He shared a match-winning unbeaten 143-run partnership with Tilak Varma, who scored 37 off 32 balls.

Yadav shrugged off leg trouble to bring up his half-century off 30 balls. He then unleashed himself on Cummins, who conceded 18 runs in his last over. Yadav brought up his century with a six over extra cover off T Natarajan, which also sealed the match.

Earlier, Travis Head launched Hyderabad on 48 off 30 and survived a clean bowl off a no-ball from IPL debutant pacer Anshul Kamboj.

But Kamboj, who conceded 32 off his first two overs, recovered well to clean bowl Mayank Agarwal.

Chawla took the big wicket of Head to the backward square leg boundary. Chawla also dismissed Heinrich Klaasen for 2 with a brilliant googly. Pandya ran through the lower order.
