Mithali Raj Departs Gujarat Giants
In a significant development ahead of the 2025 Women's Premier League (WPL) auctions, Mithali Raj and the Gujarat Giants have amicably parted ways, according to Cricbuzz. Mithali, who had been serving as the franchise’s mentor and advisor, recently took up a new role with the Andhra Cricket Association (ACA).
Reports suggest that Mithali’s new position involves spearheading the development of women’s cricket in Andhra Pradesh, focusing on nurturing talent from the grassroots to the senior levels. Given this opportunity, Mithali requested an early release from her three-year contract with the Giants.
In addition to Mithali’s departure, bowling coach Nooshin Al Khadeer has also decided not to renew her two-year contract with the franchise. She is currently engaged as the coach of India’s Under-19 Women’s team.
The Gujarat Giants are expected to announce replacements for these key roles on Thursday, December 12, just days before the WPL auctions. However, head coach Michael Klinger and fielding coach Carl Hopkinson are likely to retain their positions within the team.
This reshuffling marks a pivotal moment for the franchise as they prepare for the upcoming season.
