Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya took responsibility for his team's defeat against Rajasthan Royals. The Royals outclassed the home franchise in all aspects of the game, securing their third consecutive victory in IPL 2024.
Mumbai only managed to post 125/9 in 20 overs, with Hardik contributing 34 runs. Trent Boult and Yuzvendra Chahal restricted the opposition's scoring, taking three wickets each. Sanju Samson's team lost three early wickets, but Riyan Parag scored another fifty to take the team to victory in just 15.3 overs.
Although Hardik was playing well, he made a reckless shot against Yuzvendra Chahal and was dismissed:
“My wicket was the turning point. It allowed them to come back into the game. I should have done better with the bat.”
Hardik's captaincy at MI is being scrutinised after he replaced Rohit Sharma as skipper. In their opening game at the Narendra Modi stadium, Gujarat Titans defeated Mumbai.
Mumbai's bowlers allowed Sunrisers Hyderabad to score 277 runs, resulting in a 31-run loss.
