Former captain Rohit Sharma took on the role of driver for his team's bus ahead of their match against Chennai Super Kings at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday, April 14.
The players were in good spirits and looking forward to the El Clasico in the IPL.
In a video, Rohit can be seen taking over the driver's seat as fans cheer him on. The clip shows Rohit behind the wheel as the fans snap pictures. Rohit enjoyed his new role, and his teammates were amused. They shared laughs with the veteran. The incident took place on the team's way to the hotel after the practice session.
Rohit, who is from Mumbai, arrived at the Wankhede Stadium in his car with the number plate 264, which is also his highest score in one-day internationals. He scored a double century against Sri Lanka at the Eden Garden Stadium in Kolkata.
Rohit has played a couple of cameos in the 17th season of the tournament.
The upcoming match between MI and CSK, led by new captains Hardik Pandya and Ruturaj Gaikwad, is being dubbed as the El Clasico of the cash-rich league, where Rohit will face off against Dhoni. Hardik was traded back to Mumbai from Gujarat Titans and then replaced Rohit. Meanwhile, Dhoni relinquished the captaincy a day before the first game of the season against Royal Challengers Bengaluru and passed the captain's armband to Gaikwad.
