Former Indian cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu has announced that he's returning to commentating. The 60-year-old will lend his voice to the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, which begins on 22 March. The season opener will be between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
Sidhu, a 60-year-old legendary Indian cricket commentator, has worked for various broadcasters, including the IPL. He was the face of IPL in the commentary box during its initial years.
In 2019, Sidhu was removed from 'The Kapil Sharma Show' amidst controversy.
Despite the Congress high command not yet announcing party candidates for 13 seats, the former Punjab Congress chief, Sidhu, has repeatedly stated that he will not participate in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections scheduled for June 1st.
Sidhu began his career in cricket commentary during India’s tour of Sri Lanka in 2001, quickly gaining popularity for his unique and vibrant style, as well as his witty one-liners. His blend of wit and cricket expertise endeared him to both cricket enthusiasts and analysts.
When he played, Sidhu was one of the most stylish cricketers to come out of India. He scored 3202 runs in 51 Tests and 4413 runs in 136 ODIs, with 15 centuries and 48 half-centuries in a 15-year period from 1983 to 1998.
