Sidhu advises Iyer to contact Kohli after the controversial dismissal against KKR

Virat Kohli’s dismissal in the KKR vs RCB match has caused some controversy. The veteran was caught off guard by Harshit Rana’s high full toss, which soared into the air after hitting the batter’s willow, and the bowler effortlessly caught it. The right-handed player appeared unstoppable before the incident. He was ruled out by the on-field umpire. The star player was not satisfied with the decision and requested a DRS review.

The full toss was dipping, and Virat was standing outside the crease. After reviewing the footage several times, the on-field umpire's decision was upheld by the third official. Kohli expressed his frustration and verbally confronted the umpire. He then returned to the dugout after scoring 18 runs off 7 balls, including two sixes and one four.

Sidhu, Varun Aaron, Wasim Jaffer, and Irfan Pathan expressed their disagreement with the decision and strongly criticised the umpire. Sidhu even criticised KKR captain Shreyas Iyer.

Navjot Singh Sidhu told to Star Sports:

“MS Dhoni recalled Ian Bell in one of the Test matches between India and England. He was given the ICC Spirit of the Cricket award. Umpire was wrong but where was Shreyas Iyer. He should have taken a call. The rule needs to change. The officials should take the point of contact into consideration and not the crease.”

The match concluded with Kolkata securing a narrow 1-run victory, marking their fifth triumph. The hosts commenced batting first and amassed 222/6 at the Eden Gardens. Iyer achieved a half-century, while several other batters made valuable contributions.

RCB demonstrated resilience when Will Jacks (55) and Rajat Patidar (52) were at the crease. In one over, Andre Russell dismissed them, and the two-time champions returned to the contest.

Dinesh Karthik appeared to be a threat, but Russell removed him. Karn Sharma targeted Mitchell Starc, hitting three sixes in the 20th over. He was caught and bowled by Starc, and the home team won by 1 run.
