Navjot Singh Sidhu has criticised Shreyas Iyer for his bad call on the DRS

During the match against Chennai Super Kings, Shreyas Iyer, the captain of KKR, had a poor performance. He did not contribute much with the bat, and his bowling changes failed to yield any wickets while defending a total of 135 runs. The most surprising aspect of his performance was his two DRS calls. Despite the batters appearing not out from the naked eye, the skipper still decided to go upstairs at the bowlers' request.

Navjot Singh Sidhu, a former India player, was unhappy with Iyer's DRS calls against Shivam Dube. The ball clearly pitched outside the leg stump, but Shreyas still decided to take a chance.

Varun Chakarvarthy was bowling the 16th over of the CSK innings when he hit Shivam on the pad with the 5th delivery of the over. He immediately appealed to the umpire, who turned down the appeal. Varun looked towards Iyer, who signalled for DRS.

When the third umpire ruled in favour of the batter, Sidhu became agitated in the commentator's box:

“It was never out. The ball had pitched outside the leg stump but still Iyer decided to take a DRS. It is one of the worst DRS call in the history of the Indian Premier League. It would stand among the top when the list of worst DRS calls is taken out in the future.”
