Nicholas Pooran given big responsibility by Lucknow Super Giants for IPL 2024
The franchises are already preparing for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have made an early move by appointing Nicholas Pooran as their vice-captain. Pooran will assist captain KL Rahul in making key decisions. He will work alongside head coach Justin Langer.
Pooran has led MI Emirates to the title at the ILT20 tournament. The Lucknow-based franchise announced the news on X.
Last season, Lucknow bought him for INR 16 crore. In the past, Pooran has also represented the Punjab Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians. The West Indies T20I captain cost the Orange Army INR 10.75 crore in 2022.
In 62 IPL games, the West Indies batsman has scored 1270 runs, including 6 fifties and a highest score of 77. Pooran has also taken 6 wickets.
He has amassed 1848 runs in 80 T20Is, with 11 half-centuries to his name. Additionally, he has scored 1983 runs in 61 one-day internationals.
Lucknow's first match in IPL 2024 is against Rajasthan Royals on March 24 in Jaipur. Their upcoming matches are against Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore on March 30 and April 2.
