The St Kitts and Nevis Patriots have signed New Zealand allrounder Josh Clarkson as a replacement for injured Zimbabwe all-rounder Sikandar Raza in the wake of a difficult start to their CPL 2024 campaign. Clarkson, recognized for his powerful hitting and brisk bowling, brings valuable experience having played 89 T20 matches where he scored 1,673 runs at a strike rate of 147.40, alongside taking 11 wickets.
The Patriots have faced a challenging period with injuries affecting key players, including Raza and Sherfane Rutherford. Despite a thrilling opening victory against Antigua & Barbuda Falcons, the team has suffered consecutive losses against Trinbago Knight Riders and St Lucia Kings, prompting captain Andre Fletcher to emphasise the need for better execution and consistency.
Malolan Rangarajan, the Patriots' head coach, expressed disappointment over the injuries affecting team balance but praised the players' resilience. Fletcher echoed these sentiments, highlighting the importance of team unity and maintaining morale in tough times. The Patriots aim to turn their fortunes around, emphasising that entertaining performances need to be backed by victories.
