Pakistani players accepted as low as USD 2500 each for a meet-and-greet

A 'Jang' newspaper report revealed Pakistani players accepted as low as USD 2500 each for a meet-and-greet in Dallas during the T20 World Cup 2024. 'A Night with Stars' was cancelled due to payment disputes involving captain Babar Azam. 

These issues, along with Pakistan's early exit after losses to the USA and India, will prompt PCB scrutiny. Amidst four chair changes since December 2022, no senior management changes occurred. Internal strife, notably between Babar Azam and Shaheen Shah Afridi, complicates matters. 

PCB plans a stricter player code of conduct, considering criticism over families accompanying players and commercial engagements. Chairman Mohsin Naqvi blames officials for team indiscipline and plans changes.

Future policies may bar families from ICC events, reflecting discontent over officials granting privileges contributing to World Cup failures. Performance reviews are sought from senior PCB officials ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy in Pakistan.
