Pandya and Rohit argue with the fourth umpire over Delhi Capitals' punishment

In a hard-fought contest, the Delhi Capitals emerged victorious over the Mumbai Indians by a margin of 10 runs, securing their fifth win in the Indian Premier League. The Capitals achieved a total of 257 runs in their batting innings, while MI managed only 247. However, the final two overs of Mumbai’s chase were notable for their dramatic conclusion. Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya were observed to be engaged in a dispute with the fourth official.

The two requested that the on-field umpires impose a penalty on Delhi Capitals for the slow-rate offence. The two players allege that Delhi failed to complete 20 overs on time and should have been penalised, with only four fielders instead of five outside the thirty-yard circle.

This could have been beneficial for Mumbai in their pursuit of the target. However, the fourth official declined to entertain their request and was observed providing an explanation.

Sharma and Pandya appeared disgruntled and were not convinced by the information they had been given. Earlier, Hardik expressed his displeasure with the umpire for not issuing a warning to the DC batters for wasting time before taking the strike. Mr. Hardik was concerned about the potential consequences of his team's slow-rate offence.

Meanwhile, Pandya won the toss and invited the Capitals to bat first. Jake Fraser-McGurk (84 off 27), Tristan Stubbs (48 off 25 balls), and Shai Hope (41 off 17) led the hosts to 257/4.

Mumbai suffered early losses with the departures of Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan, and Suryakumar Yadav. However, Hardik Pandya (46 off 24), Tilak Varma (63 off 32), and Tim David (37 off 17) demonstrated a strong batting performance against the bowlers. However, the remaining batters were unable to contribute the necessary runs, resulting in another franchise loss.
