Pant Turns 27: A Journey from Struggles to Stardom and Triumph

Rishabh Pant, the dynamic wicketkeeper-batter for Team India, celebrates his 27th birthday on October 4. Born in 1997, Pant began his cricketing journey at the age of 12 when he and his mother moved to New Delhi, where he joined a local cricket academy. His early days were marked by struggles, including a memorable night spent at a Gurudwara.

Pant's hard work paid off when he made his first-class debut in the Ranji Trophy. Shortly after, he showcased his talent by scoring 308 runs against Maharashtra in the 2016-17 Ranji Trophy, becoming the third youngest to hit a triple century. His impressive performance drew attention, leading to his selection for the India Under-19 team in 2016 and securing an IPL contract with the Delhi Daredevils, now known as Delhi Capitals, for ₹1.9 crore.

Pant's IPL breakthrough came in 2017, with 366 runs in 14 innings. He debuted for the Indian national team later that year in a T20I match against England, quickly establishing himself as a key player. His prowess is particularly notable in Test cricket, where he has matched MS Dhoni’s record for Test centuries and played a pivotal role in India's historic victory at the Gabba in Brisbane.

Recently, Pant demonstrated his resilience by scoring a Test century against Bangladesh, making a triumphant return after recovering from injuries sustained in a serious car accident in December 2022.
