R Ashwin sparks controversy by targeting Sunil Narine's bowling action

Sunil Narine has been sensational for Kolkata Knight Riders in the 2024 Indian Premier League. He has scored 380 runs in 10 matches at a strike rate of 179.24 in the 2024 edition. The left-hander has scored 1 hundred and 2 fifties. Also in the bowling department, Narine has taken 13 wickets in 10 matches at an average of 6.72.

In the 17th season, the bowlers are finding it hard to contain the batsmen. Jasprit Bumrah (6.25) and Narine are the only bowlers in the Purple Cap race to have an economy of less than 7. Bumrah leads the way with 17 dismissals in 11 games and 17 scalps.

Rajasthan Royals spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has sparked controversy by criticising Sunil Narine's bowling action:

​​“Bumrah’s release point gives him distinct advantage over other bowlers. I won’t talk about Sunil Narine as it is wrong according to my policy. Narine was conceding runs 2-3 seasons ago. This season he has been magnificent but let’s not get into that topic.”

Ashwin has taken just two wickets at an economy of 9.00, but RR leads the points table. KKR is second, with Narine making important contributions. Mumbai, on the other hand, are bottom of the table despite Bumrah's brilliance.
