Reddy Shares Gambhir's Advice Before 2nd T20I vs Bangladesh

Nitish Kumar Reddy shone with a match-winning performance in the second T20I between India and Bangladesh, held in New Delhi. The all-rounder’s blistering knock led India to a commanding 86-run victory, sealing a 2-0 series win.

Batting first, India posted a challenging 221/9 in 20 overs, with Nitish smashing 74 off just 34 balls, including four boundaries and seven sixes. His partnership with Rinku Singh, who contributed a quick-fire 53 off 29 balls, was crucial in India's innings recovery. Coming in at 41/3, Nitish and Rinku’s century stand propelled India to a formidable total.

In response, Bangladesh was restricted to 135/9, thanks to Nitish’s all-round effort, which included taking two wickets. Varun Chakravarthy also impressed with figures of 2/19.

Speaking to the BCCI after the match, Nitish credited head coach Gautam Gambhir for instilling confidence in him, particularly with his bowling. "Gautam sir told me, ‘When you’re bowling, think like a bowler, not a batter who can bowl.’ That advice gave me a lot of belief," Nitish shared.

Grateful for the experience, Nitish said, "Playing for India is a proud moment. Winning the Player of the Match award feels incredible, and I just want to savour this moment."

Nitish was discovered by former cricketer MSK Prasad during youth tournaments and honed his skills at the ACA Academy in Kadapa. He previously received the prestigious BCCI Jagmohan Dalmiya award for Best U-16 Cricketer in 2017-18, becoming the first player from the Andhra Cricket Association to achieve the honour.
