Harbhajan Singh, former Indian cricketer, has once again criticised former Pakistan cricketer Kamran Akmal for his racist joke aimed at Sikhs. Harbhajan referred to Akmal as a "Nalaayak" (a term meaning irresponsible or mischievous).
During the T20 World Cup 2024 match between India and Pakistan, Kamran Akmal made derogatory remarks about India pacer Arshdeep Singh, which sparked outrage on social media. Despite Akmal issuing an apology, Harbhajan remained firm in his stance against the comments.
In a video shared by ANI, Harbhajan condemned Akmal's statement, labelling it as absurd and childish. He emphasised the importance of respecting all religions and criticised Akmal for making fun of Sikhism. Harbhajan also reminded Akmal of the significant contributions of Sikhs throughout history, including their efforts to protect communities during turbulent times.
While acknowledging Akmal's apology, Harbhajan urged him to refrain from causing harm to any religious sentiments in the future. He stressed the need for mutual respect among all religions, including Hinduism, Islam, Sikhism, and Christianity.
