Delhi Capitals (DC) player Rishabh Pant has not been given a match fitness certificate by the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. The southpaw may miss the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 as the NCA medical staff does not think he is ready to play competitive cricket. Although the franchise has not yet named Pant in the DC squad for the tournament, they can request the BCCI for his inclusion as an extra player, according to a report in Dainik Jagran.
Pant has been out of action for over a year following his car accident in December 2022. He completed his rehabilitation and was expected to regain fitness ahead of IPL 2024.
Delhi Capitals Director of Cricket, Sourav Ganguly, and co-owner Parth Jindal have confirmed that Pant will play in the upcoming season. It has been reported that Pant will feature as an impact player for the team.
Parth Jindal stated:
“Pant is fit and will play in the whole season for us. He will be our captain and is expected to play a big role in the franchise. For the first part of the season, he will not be used as the wicket-keeper and we will take a call on his keeping duties after that,”
