Rodrigues Aims for Glory in ICC Women’s T20 WC

In a recent interview with Indiatoday.in, Indian cricketer Jemimah Rodrigues expressed her excitement and ambition as the women's team gears up for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates. Drawing inspiration from the Indian men's cricket team's triumphant victory after a long 17-year wait, Jemimah is determined for her team to replicate this success.

The Indian men celebrated their achievement with an electrifying parade in Mumbai, inspiring Jemimah and her teammates. She dreams of leading the women's team to a similar celebration, stating, "We keep dreaming about being on that bus at Marine Lines and want to lift the World Cup for India." With the under-19 girls having already secured a title, Jemimah views a senior team's success as a historic milestone.

Despite past disappointments in major tournaments, including semi-final losses to England and Australia, Jemimah remains optimistic. The absence of Meg Lanning from Australia, coupled with their focus on enhancing their own strengths, fuels her confidence. "We are not overly concerned with our opponents; we are concentrating on our processes," she emphasises.

Jemimah's performance in the Women's Caribbean Premier League bolstered her confidence, showcasing her ability to adapt to challenging conditions. As they prepare to kick off their campaign against New Zealand on October 4, Jemimah is committed to making her mark in the World Cup, embodying the spirit of a "Modern Heroine" as she inspires future generations in cricket.
