Wimbledon 2024: Batting legend Sachin Tendulkar, during his visit to the All England Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club for Wimbledon 2024, expressed a unique wish list in an engaging interaction with the tournament organisers on Saturday, July 6. Tendulkar, donning a cream-coloured blazer, shared his fun-filled desires, including having tennis icon Roger Federer as his batting partner.
Tendulkar revealed his wish list after meeting his good friend Federer at SW19. He reminisced about his late friend Shane Warne, expressing a desire to play tennis with the former Australian leg-spinner, and mentioned that Yuvraj Singh would have been his ideal doubles partner.
"One tennis player I would love to bat with is Roger Federer because he also has cricketing connections. His mother is from South Africa, and he follows cricket," Tendulkar said. "When we sat together and chatted, we discussed a lot of cricket, not just tennis. So it has to be Roger."
Tendulkar shared a photo of himself with Federer on social media, commemorating their meeting. Federer, attending Wimbledon to catch the first week of the grass-court Grand Slam, was seen in the stands during Ben Shelton's match against Denis Shapovalov.
Reflecting on his time with Warne, Tendulkar mentioned, "There are two strong contenders. Unfortunately, we lost Shane Warne a couple of years ago, but I enjoyed playing tennis with Warney. We played together in London. The other guy is Yuvraj Singh from the Indian cricket team. He has also retired."
Tendulkar, along with cricketers Ben Stokes, Joe Root, and Jos Buttler, attended the Center Court on Saturday, bringing together legends from the cricketing world. The crowd's enthusiastic reception of Tendulkar, with cheers and applause, was a highlight of the day.
Additionally, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola was among the high-profile guests at Wimbledon on Saturday, adding to the event's star-studded atmosphere.
