Rohan Jaitley Retains DDCA Presidency

Rohan Jaitley has secured another term as the president of the Delhi District Cricket Association (DDCA), defeating former Indian cricketer Kirti Azad in the elections. Jaitley, 35, and son of the late Union Minister Arun Jaitley, garnered 1,577 votes, significantly surpassing Azad’s 777. A total of 2,413 votes were cast in the election, with the victory threshold set at 1,207 votes. Jaitley had previously been elected unopposed as DDCA president in 2020 and triumphed again in 2021 against advocate Vikas Singh.

Shikha Kumar, daughter of former acting BCCI president CK Khanna, clinched the vice-president position with 1,246 votes, defeating Rakesh Kumar Bansal (536 votes) and Sudhir Kumar Agarwal (498 votes). Other leadership roles were filled by Ashok Sharma as secretary (893 votes), Harish Singla as treasurer (1,328 votes), and Amit Grover as joint secretary (1,189 votes).

In addition to the executive positions, several members were elected as directors: Anand Verma (985 votes), Manjit Singh (1,050 votes), Navdeep M (1,034 votes), Shyam Sharma (1,165 votes), Tushar Saigal (926 votes), Vikas Katyal (1,054 votes), and Vikram Kohli (939 votes).

Kirti Azad, a member of India’s 1983 World Cup-winning squad and currently a Trinamool Congress MP representing Bardhaman-Durgapur, had raised allegations of corruption within the DDCA during his campaign. Despite his efforts, the results overwhelmingly favoured Jaitley.

Late Arun Jaitley, a towering figure in Indian politics and cricket administration, served as the DDCA president for 14 years, leaving a significant legacy that his son Rohan continues to uphold.
