Rohit Sharma breaks down after failing to perform against Sunrisers Hyderabad
Even though Mumbai Indians beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by seven wickets at the Wankhede Stadium on Monday, fans were still concerned about Rohit Sharma's form in T20 cricket. Since his century against Chennai Super Kings, Rohit's form has been dismal and fans are worried about India playing in the T20 World Cup in less than a month. Rohit appeared to be heartbroken by his poor performance, as the former MI captain was seen looking dejected in the dressing room after being dismissed for just four runs.
After being sacked as captain due to his declining batting form in T20 cricket, Rohit scored 297 runs in his first seven innings this season, including 105 against CSK and 49 against Delhi Capitals. But in his next five matches, he scored just 34 runs, four of which were in single figures.
A length delivery from opposition captain Pat Cummins ended Rohit's innings against Sunrisers. He tried to play it off his hips and flick the ball over square, but he rushed into the shot, and the ball ballooned in the air. SRH keeper Heinrich Klaasen made an easy catch.
Rohit walked back to the pavilion with his head bowed in frustration after another bad run. Later, cameras caught him in tears in the MI dressing room.
In the IPL 2024, Rohit will have two more matches to regain his form before India departs for the USA, where they will open their T20 World Cup campaign against Ireland on June 5.
