Rohit Sharma has compared the Indian Premier League to the English Premier League, stating that there are no weak franchises in the T20 tournament

Former Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma recently appeared on Gaurav Kapoor's show Breakfast with Champions, where he discussed the growth of the Indian Premier League over the last decade. He was joined by famous singer Ed Sheeran.

Rohit is currently playing for MI in IPL 2024. In the 17th season, Mumbai won two matches in a row after losing to Gujarat Titans, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Rajasthan Royals.

The veteran player, Rohit, has played a few attacking knocks and has been in the limelight since being sacked as captain by the five-time champions.  Hardik Pandya replaced him and Sharma is pleased with the popularity of the cash-rich league.

However, Ed Sheeran disagreed with his comment and withdrew from the legendary opener. 'You are saying that because your Indian teammates are part of different franchises,' he said.

Rohit was not expecting this response but remained calm before replying:

“It is not like that. It has become competitive. Earlier, it was not. You have the English Premier League in England, and all the teams are strong enough to beat each other on a given day. The same is true with the Indian Premier League, and that’s why you can’t take any opponent lightly.”
