Rohit Sharma injured ahead of the T20 World Cup
MI leggie Piyush Chawla has revealed that former captain Rohit Sharma was forced to play as a substitute against Kolkata Knight Riders due to a minor back stiffness. Rohit had a poor innings, scoring 11 off 12 deliveries in the chase against KKR.
Rohit hit Mitchell Starc for an exquisite lofted six over the covers. Later, Rohit tried to pull a short one off Sunil Narine but failed to make a good connection.
MI skipper and India vice-captain Hardik Pandya was booed off the field once again, but this time it was even louder.
Pandya's side are out of the play-off race after suffering their eighth defeat in 11 matches. Chawla also admitted that all they had left to play for was "pride".
Chawla blamed Mumbai's inability to gain momentum at any point in the cash-rich league for their poor performance in IPL 2024:
“Everyone says momentum is the key in T20 cricket, and this year we just couldn’t get off the right foot. It can happen to any team here. It has happened to us before but this time we could turn things around.”
