Rohit Sharma's final decisions are driven by his instincts

Indian captain Rohit Sharma, renowned for his successful leadership, emphasised that while he's open to suggestions from his teammates, his final decisions are driven by his instincts. Speaking after India's 2-0 Test series whitewash of Bangladesh, Rohit highlighted how his experience as a leader has strengthened his confidence in his gut feelings.

"I've been out there enough to trust my judgement," Rohit told BCCI.TV. His aggressive intent, both in decision-making and game strategy, was lauded during the series, especially after India scored an unprecedented eight runs per over in the second Test despite multiple rain delays.

The Indian team, featuring multiple former captains like Virat Kohli and KL Rahul, gives Rohit the benefit of diverse perspectives. However, he asserts, "At the end of the day, I trust my mind and my judgement, and that's all that matters when you’re on the field."

Pleased with his team’s exceptional fielding performance, Rohit praised the effort of his players, especially in challenging conditions. "We took 23 out of 24 catches, which is crucial in India, where slip catching is tough. Our fielding coach, T. Dilip, has been instrumental in helping with these game-changing moments."

Rohit clarified that for him, aggression is reflected in the team’s actions rather than overt body language. "It's about our batting, bowling, and fielding strategies. That’s what aggression means to me."

He also appreciated Mohammed Siraj's fiery attitude, noting that the pacer's confrontations with batters often shift the momentum in India's favour.
