Ruturaj Gaikwad identified the team's weak spot before the IPL 2024 season

The Chennai Super Kings was unable to compete with the Lucknow Super Giants in the Indian Premier League 2024. Despite posting 176 in 20 overs, the defending champions lost their seventh game of the season by eight wickets. KL Rahul (82) and Quinton de Kock (54) added 134 runs for the opening wicket, which ultimately led to Chennai's downfall.

CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad expressed dissatisfaction with the performance of his bowlers during the powerplay overs. He believes that this is an area that requires improvement and that the team will need to work on it:

“We were 10-15 runs short. The pitch was slow during our batting, but it changed completely in the second innings due to dew. The batting became a lot easier.”

Ravindra Jadeja scored over fifty runs while Dhoni made 28 runs in nine balls to take the total to 176/6 in 20 overs, but the team was unable to challenge the hosts. Chennai has 8 points from 7 games in the 17th season.

Meanwhile, Rahul was named the Player of the Match for his batting and wicket-taking. His team was found guilty of a slow over rate offence. Conversely, Gaikwad’s CSK were two overs short of their allotted time when the match concluded.
