Saha to Retire from Cricket After Ranji Trophy

India's veteran wicketkeeper, Wriddhiman Saha, has declared he will retire from all formats of cricket at the conclusion of the ongoing Ranji Trophy season. The 40-year-old cricketer took to social media to share his decision, expressing his gratitude for an enriching journey in the sport and his desire to make his final season with Bengal a memorable one.

Saha has had a remarkable career, featuring in 40 Tests for India and accumulating 1,353 runs, including three centuries. As a wicketkeeper-batsman, he rose to prominence following MS Dhoni's retirement, ranking among India’s top wicketkeeper-scoring batsmen. His last international appearance was in 2021 against New Zealand, after which he was replaced by KS Bharat under new team management.

Reflecting on his career, Saha stated, "After a cherished journey in cricket, this season will be my last. I'm honoured to represent Bengal one final time, and I thank everyone who has supported me throughout this amazing adventure." Although he will participate in the Ranji Trophy, Saha will not be part of next year's IPL, having neither been retained by the Gujarat Titans nor registered for the auction.

Having played 15 years of First-Class cricket for Bengal before a brief stint with Tripura, Saha returns to his roots this season, aiming to guide and mentor younger players. As his farewell tournament approaches, he seeks to end his cricketing chapter on a high note, urging fans and teammates to rally for a memorable final season.
