Sanjay Manjrekar renames pace sensation Mayank Yadav
Mayank Yadav has become the talk of the town after taking three wickets in his debut game against Punjab Kings. Playing in his first match, he stunned Punjab's batters. The 21-year-old made the likes of Shikhar Dhawan and Jonny Bairstow uncomfortable.
Former India player Sanjay Manjrekar likened him to Shoaib Akhtar while giving him a new name as the pace sensation of India.
In addition to Manjrekar, Harbhajan Singh and Mohammad Kaif also praised the Delhi-based player. LSG purchased him for INR 20 lakh prior to IPL 2024. Mayank's dismissal of Bairstow initiated the collapse, resulting in Punjab's 31-run defeat.
Sanjay Manjrekar told to Star Sports:
“Shoaib Akhtar played for Pakistan and was called Rawalpindi Express because of his pace. I would call Mayank Yadav Rajdhani Express. This train used to run from Mumbai to Delhi.”
Yadav took three wickets, including Jonny Bairstow (42), Prabhsimran Singh (19), and Jitesh Sharma (8), conceding only 27 runs from four overs.
Although he hasn't played much cricket for Delhi, this performance will undoubtedly open doors for him.
His sensational spell against PBKS, during which he clocked 156 km/h, earned him the Player of the Match award.
