Shakib will participate in the India tour

Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has been accused in a murder case.

As the Bangladesh cricket team celebrates a historic 10-wicket victory over Pakistan in the first Test of a two-match series in Rawalpindi, a serious controversy has arisen involving star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan. Shakib has been accused in connection with a murder case filed by Rafiqul Islam, whose son Rubel was killed on August 7 during ongoing protests in Bangladesh. Amidst the series, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) received a legal notice urging them to recall and ban Shakib from the team.

BCB president Faruque Ahmed had previously stated that a decision regarding Shakib's future would be made after the conclusion of the first Test. In a recent development reported by Cricbuzz, the BCB has decided to allow Shakib to continue playing in the series.

"Shakib will continue playing. We received a legal notice to bring him back, and we responded by stating that he will remain part of the team," BCB president Faruque Ahmed was quoted saying in the leading Bengali daily, Prothom Alo, on Tuesday.

"The FIR has been filed, and it is in the initial stages. There are many legal steps to follow, and until Shakib is proven guilty, he will continue to play. The Bangladesh team will be touring India after the Pakistan series, and we want him to participate in that series as well. He is our contracted player, and if necessary, we will provide him with legal assistance," Ahmed added.

The second Test is set to conclude on September 3, but Shakib will not return home, as he is scheduled to travel to England to participate in a four-day match for Surrey. The Bangladesh board has already granted him a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for the same.

"Shakib hasn't played red-ball cricket for a while, and that’s why we have given him an NOC to play for Surrey, as it will help him adjust to red-ball cricket," a BCB official confirmed to Cricbuzz on Tuesday.

After his stint in England, Shakib will also be seen in action during the two-match Test series against India, starting on September 19.
