Sharma acknowledged that losing a series is not the end of the world

India captain Rohit Sharma downplayed concerns about facing spin despite a 2-0 series loss to Sri Lanka on August 7 at R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo. India failed to chase down a target for the third consecutive game in the series, being dismissed for 138 while pursuing 249.

Sri Lanka secured a 110-run victory in the third ODI, marking their first series win over India since 1997. Despite this rare series defeat, Sharma remains confident, dismissing any notion of complacency within the team.

“I don’t think facing spin is a major concern. It’s something we need to address individually and within our game plan. There’s no room for complacency when playing for India. As captain, I ensure that complacency is not an issue. Full credit to Sri Lanka for their performance, they outplayed us. We assessed the conditions and selected our combinations accordingly, but some areas need attention, which led to some changes,” Sharma said in the post-match presentation.

Looking ahead, Sharma acknowledged that losing a series is not the end of the world and emphasised the importance of bouncing back.
