Sidhu reveals Dhoni's masterstroke in defending champs' win over Sunrisers

Chennai Super had suffered two consecutive defeats against Lucknow Super Giants in the Indian Premier League 2024. The team's season could have been significantly affected had they lost the contest with Sunrisers Hyderabad.

However, the defending champions played a flawless game against the Pat Cummins-led team and secured a 78-run victory while defending 212. Tushar Deshpande’s four wickets restricted the visitors to 134 runs.

Former Indian player Navjot Singh Sidhu stated that MS Dhoni and other CSK players were emotionally affected by the two recent defeats against Lucknow and were motivated to respond positively in the upcoming match.

“MS Dhoni was hurt, and other players were unhappy with their performance against the Lucknow Super Giants. They failed to defend a big total at home, with Marcus Stoinis hitting a sensational hundred.”

Chennai has won five matches and is currently in third place in the points table.
