Yuvraj Singh reportedly expressed his displeasure over Abhishek Sharma’s poor run-out in the first T20I against Bangladesh. The former Indian cricketer and mentor is said to have left a sharp comment on Abhishek's Instagram post, advising him to "apply his brains properly" following the incident.
Abhishek Sharma, returning to competitive cricket after nearly two months, had started the chase strongly with a quick 16 off 7 balls. However, a miscommunication with fellow opener Sanju Samson led to Abhishek’s unfortunate dismissal, as Towhid Hridoy’s direct hit caught him short of the crease. Despite the mishap, India comfortably secured victory in less than 12 overs, aided by Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya's explosive knocks.
Later, Abhishek posted on Instagram, reflecting on the match and stating, "Every run, every ball–it’s all for the team," while sharing highlights from the game. It is believed that while one fan expressed optimism about a big performance from the young cricketer, Yuvraj, in his direct style, reminded Abhishek to be more mindful, commenting, "Only if we apply our brains properly."
Yuvraj, a two-time World Cup winner, is also said to have mentioned humorously that he was oddly pleased when Abhishek was dismissed for a duck on his debut. Abhishek, however, credited Yuvraj for his subsequent success, including a century in the next game. In a conversation with BCCI.tv, Abhishek reportedly mentioned that Yuvraj had told him it was a "good start" and expressed pride in his progress. Abhishek went on to acknowledge Yuvraj’s significant influence on his career, saying that he had worked extensively with him both on and off the field for the past two to three years.
