Rishabh Pant is set to rejoin Delhi Capitals for the 2024 Indian Premier League. He has been out of cricket for over a year following a fatal car accident in 2022.
Sourav Ganguly, Director of Cricket for Delhi Capitals, is eagerly anticipating Pant's return to the squad.
During an interview with RevSportz, Ganguly confirmed that Pant is fully prepared to play for the franchise:
“It is a big thing for Delhi Capitals because Indian players are gold in the IPL. He hasn’t played competitive cricket for long and I hope he gets into the rhythm soon. He has worked really hard and is confident to play for Delhi Capitals and India. I am happy he is back and hope he lasts through the season.”
Ganguly did not confirm whether Pant would return as a wicketkeeper, stating that it is too early to say. He added that they cannot confirm anything at the moment as Pant was out for a long time.
Earlier reports suggested that Pant would be used as an impact player by DC. However, the franchise's co-owner, Parth Jindal, stated that their skipper would play the entire season.
