Sri Lanka Clinches First Women's Asia Cup Title

Sri Lanka's women's cricket team secured their maiden Women's Asia Cup title by defeating India by eight wickets in the final held at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium.

India batted first after winning the toss and posted a total of 165/6 in their 20 overs. The Indian innings saw contributions from several batters, but the team couldn't capitalise fully on their start.

Sri Lanka's chase was spearheaded by captain Chamari Athapaththu and Harshita Samarawickrama. Athapaththu scored a crucial 61 runs before being dismissed in the 12th over. Despite this setback, Harshita, who had earlier dropped two catches, redeemed herself with a match-winning half-century. Alongside Kavisha Dilhari, whose powerful hitting bolstered the innings, Sri Lanka reached the target comfortably in the 19th over, to the delight of the enthusiastic Dambulla crowd.

This victory marks a significant achievement for Sri Lanka, capturing their first Women's Asia Cup title in history.
