Suresh Raina has identified teams that are not performing to the required standard

Former Chennai Super Kings star batter Suresh Raina has publicly criticised the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Punjab Kings, and Delhi Capitals for their lack of IPL title wins to date. These three franchises have underperformed in IPL 2024. Raina stated that teams who partied heavily in the initial years of the tournament are still trophyless. The southpaw was discussing the controversial after-match parties. Raina stated that CSK never held such parties and has won the IPL title five times and the Champions Trophy twice.

In the first few seasons, cricket was not a priority, with cricketers and Bollywood celebrities coming together to have fun after the matches. The league was known for entertainment rather than cricketing action.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India was forced to intervene after one of the cheerleaders revealed the illicit activities of the cricketers behind closed doors.

Raina stated on the Lallantop:

“Chennai never partied and that’s why they became successful. Franchises who partied hard are unsuccessful. There were others also who partied hard and are trophyless to date. CSK and MI have won five titles each, respectively. It is impossible to play after a late-night party. In the scorching heat of May and June, if you go for parties, how can you play day games?”
