Suryakumar Yadav will join the Mumbai Indians squad on Friday. He has not played in IPL 2024 yet as he was recovering from ankle surgery earlier this year at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru.
It is still uncertain whether he is fit for Sunday's match against Delhi Capitals at the Wankhede Stadium.
Suryakumar's last competitive match was in December, where he scored a 56-ball 100 in the third T20I against South Africa in Johannesburg. He sustained an ankle injury during the match and subsequently underwent surgery.
In addition, he had a sports hernia surgery. Consequently, he was unable to participate in India's three-match T20I series against Afghanistan at home, which was their final T20I assignment before the World Cup in June.
Mumbai has lost all three of their matches so far and is at the bottom of the points table.
