Terrorists are planning to attack the T20 World Cup

With just over a month to go before the United States and West Indies host the 2024 T20 World Cup, some worrying news has emerged from the Caribbean. According to reports, Cricket West Indies has received a 'terror threat' in relation to the mega event. According to reports, northern Pakistan has hinted at a security threat to the international cricket tournament, prompting the cricket board to implement tighter security protocols.

Jonny Graves, CEO of the Cricket West Indies to Cricbuzz, stated:

“We are monitoring and assessing the global situation  and are in communication with the respective authorities to make sure that the necessary plans are in place for minimizing the risks that have been identified.”

In addition, the research claims that the pro-Islamic State has posed a security threat, video messages from the Islamic State's Afghanistan-Pakistan branch, IS-Khorasan (IS-K), which have hinted at attacks in several countries and urged supporters to join the fight, were among the campaigns inciting violence against sporting events.

But CWI's CEO has assured everyone at the event that safety is the board's top priority.

The Daily Express claims the threat came from the pro-Islamic State (Daesh) via the media organisation "Nashir Pakistan", a propaganda channel linked to the Islamic State group.

The Twenty20 World Cup kicks off on 1 June, with the final scheduled for 29 June in the USA and the West Indies.
