The former Indian wicket keeper-batter becomes a coach

Dinesh Karthik, the former Indian wicket keeper-batter, has transitioned into coaching after retiring from all forms of cricket post IPL 2023. Recently, he joined Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) as their batting coach and mentor for the men's team. Karthik brings extensive IPL experience, having played for multiple teams including Kolkata Knight Riders, Mumbai Indians, Delhi Daredevils, Kings XI Punjab, and RCB, amassing 4,842 runs in 257 IPL appearances.

In his new role, Karthik expressed enthusiasm about coaching and mentoring, aiming to contribute to the team's development with his wealth of playing experiences. He emphasised the importance of technical proficiency, match intelligence, and composure under pressure in achieving cricketing success. Karthik's retirement announcement coincided with his 39th birthday, where he reflected on his career, thanking coaches, teammates, and support staff who made his journey memorable. He leaves behind a legacy in international cricket with notable performances across formats, including 94 ODIs, 60 T20Is, and a Test century against Bangladesh.

The coaching move signifies a new chapter for Karthik, who aims to leverage his playing experience to guide and mentor the next generation of cricketers at RCB.
