The ninth edition of the Women’s Asia Cup

The ninth edition of the Women’s Asia Cup is scheduled to kick off on Friday, July 19 in Sri Lanka. The tournament will feature eight teams competing in the T20I format for the fifth consecutive time, serving as a warm-up event for the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in October-November in Bangladesh.

The teams will be divided into two groups of four during the initial round-robin stage, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the semi-finals. The final match is set to take place at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium in Dambulla on July 28.

India enters as the defending champions, having defeated Sri Lanka in the previous final in 2022. Except for one edition where they lost to Bangladesh in the 2018 final in Malaysia, India has dominated the Asia Cup.

The participating teams and groups for the Women’s Asia Cup 2024 are as follows:

Group 1: India, Nepal, Pakistan, and United Arab Emirates.

Group 2: Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Malaysia, and Thailand.

The squads for the Women’s Asia Cup 2024 include players like Harmanpreet Kaur leading the Indian team, Nida Dar captaining Pakistan, Esha Rohit Oza leading the United Arab Emirates, Indu Barma leading Nepal, Nigar Sultana Joty captaining Bangladesh, Chamari Athapaththu leading Sri Lanka, Thipatcha Putthawong leading Thailand, and Winifred Duraisingam leading Malaysia.
