The ninth edition of the Women’s Asia Cup
The ninth edition of the Women’s Asia Cup is scheduled to kick off on Friday, July 19 in Sri Lanka. The tournament will feature eight teams competing in the T20I format for the fifth consecutive time, serving as a warm-up event for the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in October-November in Bangladesh.
The teams will be divided into two groups of four during the initial round-robin stage, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the semi-finals. The final match is set to take place at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium in Dambulla on July 28.
India enters as the defending champions, having defeated Sri Lanka in the previous final in 2022. Except for one edition where they lost to Bangladesh in the 2018 final in Malaysia, India has dominated the Asia Cup.
The participating teams and groups for the Women’s Asia Cup 2024 are as follows:
Group 1: India, Nepal, Pakistan, and United Arab Emirates.
Group 2: Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Malaysia, and Thailand.
