The SS confirmed Karthik’s role as captain

Former Indian cricketer Dinesh Karthik has joined the Legends League Cricket (LLC) and is set to captain the Southern Superstars in the upcoming season. The tournament will run from September 11 to October 5, featuring teams like India Capitals, Gujarat Giants, Bhilwara Kings, Manipal Tigers, and Urbanisers Hyderabad.

Known for his aggressive lower-order batting, Karthik showcased his finishing skills during the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) season, where he played a crucial role for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

The Southern Superstars announced on their social media channels, confirming Karthik’s role as captain for the third season of the LLC. Having announced his retirement earlier this year, Karthik is also set to become the first Indian player to feature in the SA20 league, representing Paarl Royals.

Karthik’s IPL journey began in 2008 with the Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals), and he has since represented six different franchises, including Punjab Kings, Mumbai Indians, Gujarat Lions, Kolkata Knight Riders, and RCB. Over his 16-year IPL career, he played in 257 matches, scoring 4,842 runs at a strike rate of 135.36, with a top score of 97. Internationally, Karthik has appeared in 180 matches for India, accumulating 3,463 runs.
