Currently, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) pays Rs15 lakh for Test matches, Rs6 lakh for One Day Internationals (ODIs) and Rs3 lakh for T20 Internationals.
After India's impressive Test series win against the BCCI, the board is considering increasing match fees for Tests, thus placing a premium on the game's longer format.
According to The Indian Express, the board decided to revise the salary structure after cricketers opted out of the Ranji Trophy to save themselves for the Indian Premier League (IPL).
India secured their 17th consecutive Test series win at home by defeating England by five wickets in Ranchi. In the absence of Virat Kohli and Mohammed Shami for all four Tests, and KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja for some, India fielded one of their most inexperienced XIs in Vizag, Rajkot, and Ranchi. Despite the absence of these big names, the debutants have made the most of their opportunity.
Team India captain Rohit Sharma has also made it clear that they will not select cricketers who are not interested in playing Test cricket.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is considering offering an additional bonus to players who participate in all Test series during a season. At present, the BCCI pays Rs 15 lakh per Test match, Rs 6 lakh per One Day International (ODI), and Rs 3 lakh for T20 internationals.
