An unseen clip of former India captain Virat Kohli during the Sri Lanka tour has recently surfaced and quickly gone viral on social media. The video captures Kohli playfully dancing as he descends a staircase before joining a team huddle, showcasing his spontaneous and fun-loving side.
Despite the light-hearted moment, Kohli's performance on the Sri Lanka tour was disappointing. He struggled against the Sri Lankan bowlers, managing only 58 runs in the three ODIs he played. The Indian team as a whole, with a few exceptions among the batters and spinners, also faced difficulties, resulting in a 2-0 defeat in the three-match ODI series. This marked a historic victory for Sri Lanka, as it was their first bilateral ODI series win over India since 1997, following India’s triumph in the 2024 T20 World Cup.
Kohli is now set to return to action in the upcoming two-match Test series against Bangladesh, beginning on September 19, 2024. In this series, Kohli has the opportunity to reach significant milestones. He is just 152 runs away from achieving 9,000 Test runs, which would place him in an elite group of cricketers, including Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid. With 8,848 runs from 113 Test matches, Kohli is also on the verge of scoring his 30th Test century, needing just one more to reach this milestone.
Interestingly, despite his prolific career, Kohli has yet to score a half-century against Bangladesh in Test cricket—a milestone he could achieve in the upcoming series.
