Virat Kohli has reclaimed the orange cap after scoring 42 runs against Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League 2024. Ruturaj Gaikwad had dethroned him, but the veteran took it back after the final match. Faf du Plessis (64) and Kohli added 92 runs in 5.5 overs to chase down 148 in Bengaluru.
The chase became tense after RCB lost six wickets in quick succession, but Dinesh Karthik held one end together to guide his team to a four-wicket victory.
Former India captain Virender Sehwag praised Kohli for his impressive form. He urged the star batsman to maintain the same pace in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
“Virat Kohli was phenomenal against Gujarat Titans. He has been consistent this season for RCB. I hope he continues with his form even in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. No matter if he fails to score any run after the World Cup but India needs him in form in the West Indies and the USA.”
Meanwhile, Kohli faced 27 balls and hit 4 sixes and 2 sixes, his runs coming at a strike rate of 155.55.
In 11 matches, he has scored 542 runs at an average of 67.75 and a strike rate of 148.08. In all, he has hit 48 fours and 24 sixes.
