West Indies and Ireland women’s teams are gearing up for exciting white-ball cricket tours in India this December and January, marking significant events in the 2022-2025 Future Tours Programme (FTP). India will face West Indies in three T20Is in Navi Mumbai and three ODIs in Vadodara in December, followed by three ODIs against Ireland in Rajkot in January 2025. Notably, this will be Ireland women’s maiden bilateral tour of India and their first face-off with the Indian team since 2006.
The T20 matches against West Indies are slated for December 15, 17, and 19, with ODIs to follow on December 22, 24, and 27. The Ireland ODIs are scheduled for January 10, 12, and 15, with both series contributing points to the ICC Women's Championship.
With the next ODI World Cup set to be hosted by India in 2025, the Indian team has already begun sharpening their skills. After a 2-1 ODI series win against New Zealand in Ahmedabad post the October T20 World Cup, they are set to play three ODIs against Australia in Brisbane and Perth this December before taking on West Indies. Vadodara, last hosting India women in 2019 against South Africa, and Rajkot, welcoming the team after 14 years, add historical significance to these matches.
West Indies’ last white-ball tour of India occurred in 2016, where they triumphed 3-0 in the T20Is but were swept 3-0 in the ODIs. Meanwhile, Ireland has struggled against India in ODIs, losing all 12 encounters. Their most recent clash came during the 2023 T20 World Cup, where India narrowly edged out Ireland by five runs.
With a mix of historic rivalries and fresh challenges, these tours promise to be thrilling for players and fans alike.
