West Indies cricket legend offers new job to Indian fast bowler

Former West Indies fast bowler Ian Bishop has praised Jasprit Bumrah for his match-winning performance in the Indian Premier League 2024. Bumrah claimed three wickets and was named Player of the Match as the visitors defeated the Sam Curran-led Punjab Kings by 9 runs, securing their third win.

Bumrah's 13 wickets in 7 games have earned him the Purple Cap, which he reclaimed from Yuzvendra Chahal. He began his damage in the powerplay overs, with Rilee Rossouw unable to read his toe-crushing Yorker. Curran was Bumrah’s second wicket.

When Shashank Singh and Ashutosh Sharma were scoring quickly, Hardik Pandya brought back his premier fast bowler to break the partnership. Shashank misjudged Bumrah’s slower delivery and ended up hitting the ball high in the air, which Tilak Varma caught well.

Although Ashutosh continued to hit boundaries, he didn’t receive support from the other end and was eventually dismissed by Gerald Coetzee.

Bishop suggests that Bumrah should give lectures to the young pacers:

“If I could anoint Jasprit Bumrah with a fast bowling PHD, I would. He is a terrific communicator, Knowledgable & articulate. I’d then have him hold bowling lectures to young for aspiring seam bowlers across the country at all levels. I wouldn’t wait until he retired. #professor

In the 17th season, Bumrah achieved a five-wicket haul against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Wankhede Stadium. Among the MI bowlers, Jasprit is the only one in form, while the others are conceding runs without taking wickets.
