Yadav is out of Duleep Trophy

India batter Suryakumar Yadav will miss the opening round of the Duleep Trophy, starting on September 5, due to a hand injury sustained last week. Suryakumar, who was scheduled to play for India C against India D in Ananthapur from September 5-8, was confirmed unavailable by BCCI sources.

The right-hander had played for Mumbai in the final match of the Buchi Babu Invitational Tournament in Coimbatore against TNCA XI but missed the last day’s play due to the injury, as he did not come out to bat.

Suryakumar has now reported to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru for further assessment and recovery.

Meanwhile, the Duleep Trophy will see India A and India B face off at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru in another match of the competition. This tournament is a crucial opportunity for players vying for selection in the upcoming two-Test series against Bangladesh, which begins on September 19 in Chennai.
